What is TEAM 2Tue6? It is a place for you!
Six times a year, on the second Tuesday of the month, Cornerstone will host an event for people who are in any level of service in our church. We’re calling it TEAM 2Tue6 (second Tuesday, six times a year). The next TEAM 2Tue6 will be on Tuesday, April 10. We hope you plan to come!
TEAM 2TUE6 is a structured, regular forum where people at all levels of ministry within Cornerstone have fun, receive encouragement, make friends and have fellowship with others and experience the big picture that we’re all working together on the same team. At TEAM 2Tue6, there is space for people who have similar passions for ministry to dream, brainstorm, discuss, plan, organize, cross-pollinate, commit, and receive accountability and support.
Who should come?
Are you a Cornerstone partner? One of your pledges as a partner is to serve in the church. We strongly urge you to attend!
Do you participate at any level in any kind of ministry? Do you occasionally bring in food for the coffee bar?
Do you say hello to people you don’t know on a Sunday morning? Did you help out at the Cold Weather Shelter? Do you participate in an ongoing ministry? You should attend!
Are you thinking about beginning to serve at Cornerstone and are wondering what might be a good area for your talents? You should attend!
What about dinner?
We provide takeout food for a nominal price, from 6 to 7 p.m. No cooking, and no potluck! Just come to the church and enjoy food and fellowship.
What about the kids?
We provide babysitting during the evening. Both parents can attend TEAM 2Tue6!
What does it look like?
First, we eat from 6-7 p.m. Next, we have some encouragement time together. Then we gather in small groups based on areas of ministry within the church to discuss successes, challenges and things that can help us move forward. People active in ministry will get together with others in like ministries. People exploring ministry should join the group of a ministry they would like to explore. Those involved in more than one ministry area should join the group for the area which they feel most strongly about, and remain there for the entire meeting. We have identified eight different ministry areas:
• Corporate worship
• Internal care
• Sunday welcoming
• Assimilation (helping people find friends and a place to fit in at our church)
• Children
• Spiritual development (including youth)
• Mission/outreach
• Our building
View this handy chart for a breakdown of the individual ministries covered by each ministy area discussion group.
We are all finished by 9 p.m.
Hey… aren’t you really just trying to recruit me to do some work?
NO! TEAM 2Tue6 is NOT a place where
• People who are already overburdened will be given additional burdens.
• Guilt will be heaped on people for not participating, for not doing a good enough job, for not leading well enough, for not putting enough time or energy into a ministry, for having personal situations that prevented ministry, or any number of other reasons.
• Lists of projects will be made to be done by “some people” outside the discussion team.
Instead, TEAM 2Tue6 IS a place where
• People already doing ministry can be encouraged
• People can find their place in ministry
• Big picture ministry challenges can be explored and addressed
• Innovation can happen
• People can feel they are part of one team for Cornerstone within their ministry areas
Remember, the next TEAM 2Tue6 will be on Tuesday, April 10. See what all the excitement is about. Come on out! If you have any questions, email Becky Copeland or call her at 301-604-0676.
