Do you have friends of other faiths… or no faith at all? Would you like to be able to explain to them why you are a follower of Jesus in a way that makes sense to them both emotionally and intellectually?

Or maybe you yourself are wondering about yourself, looking to develop a vibrant, living faith of your own?

Would you like to understand the “big picture” of why the Christian faith makes sense? What it can tell us about why things are the way they are? How it can help us understand our own selves? And what is the hope that following Christ offers to us and our world?

Join us this summer as we read N.T. Wright’s book, ‘Simply Christian,” which answers these questions and more. This will be an 8-week small group experience on Monday nights at 7 pm in the church. There will be a three-week break in the middle. Dates are June 2, 6, 16, and 23, and July 21, 28, Aug. 4, 11.

May 9—Spotlight Night

Enjoy a fun coffeehouse atmosphere this Friday night at Cornerstone’s “Spotlight Night.” Come by the church at 7 pm for a relaxed evening of fun and fellowship. We’ll have a karaoke machine for those so inclined, and a chance for everyone to come up on stage and showcase their hidden talents. Poetry readings? Singing? Instrumentals? And… other! Come and join us; this one’s for adults only (no children’s talent slots). Bring a homemade dessert and enjoy.

Even at the age of 12, he knew what he was supposed to be doing and wasn’t distracted or afraid to pursue his purpose. He models what all of us can learn from as we try to walk straight ahead with clarity, doing what God wants us to do.

Jesus could have stayed in the glory and perfection of heaven; or come to Earth and reigned as a powerful, distant, wealthy military king. However, he chose to live a life that caused him to be rejected, even by those closest to him. His brand of leadership was to suffer through his life and death. He chose the reward of Heaven over the fame and success of this world.

Even though Jesus was perfect, the Bible says that He was tempted in every way just like we are. He was taken into the desert and tested. This testing revealed the depth of His character and His relationship with God. The way that Jesus handled these temptations also serves as an incredible model for us as we try to stay aligned with what God wants for our lives.
